From estimate to a live bot scenario
Carry the same logic into Veles: set comparable parameters, preview the order grid, then backtest before you launch.
- Match direction, leverage, grid, Martingale, and TP/SL
- Inspect orders, capital allocation, and average entry
- Stress-test fees, drawdown, and MAE in a backtest
Assumptions & conventions
- Linear USDT-margined contract; quantity in base asset.
- initialMargin = notional ÷ leverage; wallet = initial + additional.
- Educational estimate — not a live exchange margin engine.
Frequently asked questions
How is initial margin calculated?
Initial margin = entry price × quantity ÷ leverage for a linear USDT-margined position.
It is the collateral required to open the notional size — not the full position value.
What is buying power in this calculator?
Buying power = wallet balance × leverage. It shows how much notional you could theoretically deploy if the entire isolated wallet were used as margin.
Real exchanges reserve buffers for fees, funding, and liquidation — treat this as an upper-bound estimate.
Does additional margin increase position size automatically?
No. Additional margin only increases wallet balance and buying power in this model. Position size is driven by the quantity you enter.
Use the position-from-margin calculator to size quantity from available margin instead.
Is this the same as Binance isolated margin?
It follows the same basic identity (notional ÷ leverage) but omits tiered rates, bonuses, and live wallet sync.
Always confirm margin in your exchange UI before placing orders.
