    How is crypto liquidation price calculated?

    Liquidation price is the mark/index level where position equity falls below the maintenance margin requirement. On a simple isolated linear long, a flat-MMR estimate looks like entry × (1 − 1/leverage) / (1 − MMR); shorts use the mirrored form with plus signs.

    Exchange presets add wallet, deduction, or fee terms from published Binance/Bybit docs. Real engines also use live mark price and tier tables this page does not stream.

    What is the difference between isolated and cross margin liquidation?

    Isolated margin confines risk to the collateral assigned to one position; liquidation is estimated from that pocket. Cross margin shares wallet balance across positions, so one trade’s liquidation depends on the whole account.

    What is maintenance margin rate (MMR)?

    MMR is the maintenance margin rate — the minimum margin fraction required to keep a leveraged position open. Higher MMR (or higher tiers) generally moves liquidation closer for the same leverage.

    Why is this only a liquidation estimate?

    Even Binance/Bybit-shaped presets omit full tier iteration, live mark price, funding accrual, insurance-fund behavior, and every wallet buffer. Production liquidation can differ.

    When should I use the Binance vs Bybit preset?

    Pick the preset that matches the documentation you are comparing against. The Binance simplified isolated path uses wallet balance and maintenance amount terms; the Bybit UTA isolated path follows their published formula with additional margin, deduction, and taker fee components.

    Neither preset connects to exchange APIs or guarantees exchange-exact output.

    Does higher leverage always mean closer liquidation?

    Usually yes for the same entry, side, and MMR: less initial margin means a smaller adverse move can breach maintenance requirements.

    Adding isolated margin, lowering size, or using a lower MMR tier can push liquidation farther — which is why the advanced fields exist on exchange-style presets.
