From estimate to a live bot scenario
Carry the same logic into Veles: set comparable parameters, preview the order grid, then backtest before you launch.
- Match direction, leverage, grid, Martingale, and TP/SL
- Inspect orders, capital allocation, and average entry
- Stress-test fees, drawdown, and MAE in a backtest
Assumptions & conventions
- Long stop = extreme × (1 − trail); short stop = extreme × (1 + trail).
- Fees on entry and stop notional for entered quantity.
- Educational estimate only — not financial advice or live exchange data.
Frequently asked questions
What is a trailing stop?
A trailing stop follows favorable price by a fixed percent trail from the peak (long) or trough (short). Long stop = extreme × (1 − trail%); short stop = extreme × (1 + trail%).
This calculator shows the stop level and locked gross/net PnL if price reverses to the stop from the extreme.
What should I enter for extreme price?
For a long, enter the highest price since entry (peak). For a short, enter the lowest price (trough). Long extremes must be ≥ entry; short extremes ≤ entry.
Trail percent is the distance from that extreme to the stop (5% → 0.05 after UI conversion).
Does trailing stop include fees?
Yes — net PnL at stop subtracts per-side fees on entry and stop notional for the quantity you enter. Funding and gap/slippage through the stop are not modeled.
Compare gross vs net rows when trail is tight relative to fees.
Trailing stop vs fixed stop-loss
Fixed SL sits at one price from entry. Trailing SL ratchets with favorable movement, locking profit but can exit on normal pullbacks equal to the trail width.
Use stop-loss / take-profit calculator for fixed SL/TP geometry from entry.
Can trail percent be 100% or more?
No. Trail must be below 100% (1.0 decimal). Very wide trails behave like distant stops; very tight trails increase whipsaw risk.
